There are three main objectives for this study. Firstly, it aims to investigate key factors influencing the extent of GL implementation for logistics service providers in Thailand. Secondly, since there are many activities a company can conduct to respond to the GL policy, the ranking orders between several GL activities according to their contributions to corporate cost reduction and environmental protection will be explored and discussed. The first two objectives would provide guidelines for the adoption of GL in the road freight transportation industry in Thailand. Furthermore, recommendations for a company planning to initiate GL policies could be provided from the study. The third objective responds to a lack of empirical research focusing on GL performance assessment. This study therefore aims to develop a framework of GL performance assessment in a standardised manner. The proposed framework can be adopted for monitoring corporate performance and also for the benchmarking purpose.
