วัตถุประสงค์
:
To develop an integrated UGS framework by using GIS-based MCA approach that enable the incorporation of the major aspects relevant to urban sustainability. This framework will consist of a set of indicators classified into several aspects. The selected indicators will be based on existing indicators found in UGS literature.
To develop the scoring system suitable for the assessment of the proposed UPS framework. A weighted scoring method will be used to make the UGS assessment flexible and responsive to key concerns of each city.
To select the simple, practical, and suitable methodologies to quantify benefits of UGS planning alternatives. Environmental, social, and economic benefits of UGS planning will be identified and graphically displayed, allowing planners to readily communicate with diverse groups of urban dwellers.
To test the applicability and practicality of the existing indicators for UGS. The suggestions will be identified to improve the quality of UGS indicators that should be simple, measurable, and practical for local planners to collect data and make assessment.
To apply the proposed UGS planning tool to the selected municipalities. Three cases will be selected to represent large, medium, and small sized cities. UGS planning alternatives and the assessment results will be presented to municipal planners of each city to obtain their feedbacks that can be used to verify and improve the UGS planning tool.
