To reemphasize and reevaluate the importance of local cultural and social sensibilities in the Mekong region. 2. To bring together assorted stakeholders - selected Japanese and Southeast Asian regional experts, NGOs, and local voices from the Mekong region. 3. To discuss and share perspectives on development, cultural change and adaptation, diversity, and the resilience of local livelihoods. 4. To assert local culture and worldview into the discourse of Mekong development. 5. To explore how local knowledge and social organization may be better integrated in regional development practices 6.
