The study is aimed to explore the role of LXRs in the regulation of glucose homeostasis focusing on the renal gluconeogenesis and renal glucose reabsorption. The objectives are as follow
1 To investigate the effect of LXR in the regulation of renal transporters-mediated glucose transport in renal proximal tubular cells.
2 To determine the effect and mechanism of action of LXR on gluconeogenesis in renal tubular proximal cells.
3 To determine the effect of LXR activation on renal gluconeogenesis and glucose transporters in animal model.
4 To determine the potential therapeutic utilization of LXR agonists/antagonists as anti-diabetes.
